A covered dish luncheon is to be served in the church fellowship hall at 11:30 with the Christopher-Joel Carter piano concert at 1:00 PM. Plan to come, invite your family, friends, and neighbors to enjoy the day.
Here is some more background information on Christopher-Joel and his activity during this last year.
Music Sunday is here. This last weekend of August is full of possibilities so plan to let your activity include KUMC. The Children’s Choir, led by Angie Layne will sing with a children’s sermon by pastor John Anderson. The Roane County dancers will perform, and instruments will sound their praises to God. Join us for this exciting time of jubulation and celebration. Here is an overview of where Chris has come since age five until his most recent encounter with Elton John. When “at home” in Alabama, he lends his time to numerous civic and community efforts, including being the musical director and pianists for a number of local musicals. Christopher began his musical training at the age of five, and studied with local teachers of his hometown, Albertville, Alabama. He focused on the Southern Gospel style, Jazz, and Liberace-influenced improvisational styles. At the age of fifteen, Christopher-Joel began formal classical training, continuing through his college years, leading him to also major in organ performance and also concentrations on musical composition. Since September 2009, Christopher began learning the complete catalogue of the music of Elton John. In March 2010, Christopher released his first studio-produced self-titled album. The CD may be purchased directly from Mr. Carter.
I’ll see your smiling face on Sunday.
